the voice studio
Voice lessons at The Sonata School are taught by our owner, Jennie Harris, a Chapman University - Conservatory of Music graduate in Vocal Performance. Jennie has spent a lifetime on stage in elite choirs, Musical Theatre productions, jazz bands and classical stages. These lessons are designed for singers who already love to sing and are ready to understand their instrument more deeply. Whether your experience comes from choir, musical theatre, church, performing with a band, or years of singing on your own, lessons help you refine your technique and discover what your voice is truly capable of.
Lessons are designed to give singers greater vocal freedom, confidence, control, and the ability to perform with ease and expression across a variety of musical styles. The goal is a voice that feels effortless, expressive, and dependable—giving you the confidence to sing with freedom on stage and off.

what age do you recommend starting lessons?
1
In our experience, teenagers and preteens are far more likely to be at an age where voice lessons are a logical next step. Students younger than this who are interested in lessons should already be active in their performance communities, and preparing for shows and auditions.
Any other students interested in voice lessons but not fitting into these categories should HIGHLY consider piano lessons to prepare for voice lessons in the future.
Jennie can guide you through healthy vocal development in a variety of styles - pop, musical theatre, jazz and classical. You choose your style, and we’ll help you grow your technique and confidence.
